by Graham Hurley
Joe Faraday has to be one of the best fictional detectives ever. This bleak, gripping picture of the criminal underbelly of Portsmouth is fascinating, and Hurley’s plot is a wonder of twists and turns. I prefer Faraday to Rebus, although Ian Rankin’s portrait of Edinburgh is always great to read about. This is the second book I’ve read by this author. and I thought it was fantastic. Totally credible.
